Child Guidance and Parenting

Continuing a long tradition...

MASL comes from a long history of applying psychological principles in the raising of happy, contributing, well-rounded humans. Through a blending of behavioral, dynamic, and relational approaches, Adlerian parenting strategies have long supported parents, teachers, and caregivers a respectful and effective approach to guiding youth.

An example of this was the use of the family meeting, which was introduced as a means for parents to actively engage children in problem solving and task sharing of the family. A similar strategy was later developed in schools to assist teachers in facilitating class decision making and problem solving.

Since Adler’s day, many other approaches have developed to help parents. Some of these are reiterations of Adler’s work, while others base their approach on findings from fields of neuroscience, attachment, and cultural diversity.

We would love to have an opportunity to support parents, parent groups, caretakers, teachers, organizations, and faith groups in understanding and implementing respectful and effective approaches to child guidance.
